Travel itinerary

1. Day: Skopje / Sofia – Kokino - Skopje

Flight to Skopje or Sofia. By a coach we go to the unique stone monuments of Kokino, a megalithic observatory, about 4000 years old. On the NASA list the archaeological observatory Kokino is on the fourth place. Afterwards we head to our hotel in Skopje. Dinner and overnight in Skopje.

2. Day: Skopje

In the morning we take a city tour of the Macedonian capital. We see highlights as St. Spas (savior’s church), Kale Fortress, Turkish Old Town, as well as modern Skopje. In the afternoon excursion to the Matka canyon, a natural zone with numerous endemic botanical species. As an alternative to the Matka canyon, there is possibility for visit of the natural-historical museum in Skopje. In the evening a typically Macedonian dinner with folkloric music expects us. Overnight in Skopje.

3. Day: Skopje – Mavrovo – Ohrid

In the morning we leave Skopje and go first to Tetovo, where we visit the "colored" mosque, a cultural heritage from ottoman time. Afterwards, as a second part of our journey to Mavrovo, is the national park with the same name. A unique mountain landscape expects us. We will taste the famous cheese of this region at a sheepfold. Shortly before Debar we visit the monastery of St. Jovan Bigorski. Passing by Debar we continue our trip to Ohrid. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Ohrid.

4. Day: Ohrid – Sveti Naum

IIn the morning we visit the holiest town of the country, Ohrid – UNESCO world cultural heritage. With a short boat trip, we already recognize the unique and enchanting scenery of the place. In the afternoon we go to the origin of the Ohrid lake where we discover the subterranean springs in a journey by the oar boat. Afterwards, visit of the monastery of St. Naum. Dinner and overnight in Ohrid.

5. Day: Ohrid – Bitola – Pelister

After the breakfast we go to Bitola, where we visit first the excavations of Heraklea. Afterwards a short city tour, before we drive to the Pelister national park. We arrive in our hotel located at 1,400-m over the sea-level, surrounded with unique nature. In the afternoon every guest has the possibility to explore the area by themselves. Dinner and overnight in Pelister.

6. Day: Pelister – Strumica – Berovo

In the morning journey from Pelister by Prilep to the best-known wine-growing area of Macedonia in the region of Demir Kapija. After a winetasting, we continue with the second part of the journey, to the famous waterfalls of Strumica. A unique spectacle of nature expects us. About early evening we reach our hotel in Berovo. Dinner and overnight in Berovo.

7. Day: Berovo

In the morning a short hiking to the Berovo lake. Afterwards we visit a sheepfold where optional delightful lunch expects us. In the afternoon visit of both monasteries of the region, St. Archangel Michael as well as Holy Ascension of the Mother Maria. Dinner and overnight in Berovo.

8. Day: Berovo – Skopje / Sofia

Transfer to the airport in Skopje or Sofia.
