Tour itinerary
Day 1 : Arrival in Belgrade
Flight to Belgrade. Transfer to the hotel.
Day 2 : Belgrade – Sarajevo
The day begins with a city tour of Belgrade, the vibrant capital of Serbia. The itinerary includes the city's most important sights – among them the imposing Kalemegdan Fortress, which towers above the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers, strategically situated over the Sava delta, and the elegant Knez Mihailova shopping street with its historic buildings, boutiques, and cafes. The view of the old town, with its squares, churches, and lively street scenes, also provides an impressive glimpse into the cultural diversity of this metropolis.
Afterwards, the journey continues across the border into Bosnia and Herzegovina to the capital, Sarajevo. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 : Sarajevo – Mostar – Neum
A comprehensive city tour reveals the full diversity of this vibrant metropolis, known as the "Jerusalem of the Balkans." Among the sights to see are the oriental-influenced Baščaršija bazaar, the Gazi Husrev-Beg Mosque, the Catholic Cathedral, and traces of Sarajevo's more recent history.
Afterwards, travel to Mostar, one of the most fascinating cities in the Balkans. The city tour reveals a unique blend of Oriental and Central European heritage. The centerpiece is the world-famous Old Bridge (Stari Most), the city's landmark and a symbol of reconciliation. It spans the Neretva River with elegance, connecting the two historic districts, whose Ottoman architecture, bazaars, and mosques exude a unique charm.
In the late afternoon, drive to Neum, the only coastal city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and check into the hotel.
Day 4 : Neum – Dubrovnik – Budva
Today is dedicated to one of the highlights of the trip: Dubrovnik, the legendary "Pearl of the Adriatic". After driving along the picturesque coastal road and crossing the border into Croatia, the view opens up to the Old Town, gleaming in brilliant white and ochre – surrounded by the mighty city walls and the deep blue sea.
During an approximately two-hour guided tour, the full splendor of the UNESCO-protected old town is revealed: the imposing cathedral, the baroque Rector's Palace, the elegant palaces along the Stradun and the impressive city walls, which make Dubrovnik one of the best-preserved historical cities in the Mediterranean.
Afterwards, there is free time to stroll through the narrow streets, enjoy a leisurely coffee, or let your gaze wander over the Adriatic Sea from the old port.
In the afternoon, we continue to the Montenegrin city of Budva. Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 : Budva – Tivat – Kotor – Budva
The day begins with a stroll through Budva, one of the oldest cities on the Adriatic coast. The Mediterranean flair of this historic old town unfolds between Venetian walls, narrow streets, and small squares.
Next on the itinerary is the elegant port city of Tivat. Originally an important naval base for the Venetians and later for the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, the city now presents itself as a meeting place for international sailors and travelers with its modern Porto Montenegro marina. Between gleaming yachts, upscale boutiques, and palm-lined promenades, the modern face of Montenegro is revealed – sophisticated, cosmopolitan, and yet charmingly Mediterranean.
In the afternoon, the journey reaches the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kotor. The city, surrounded by mighty walls and protected by the mountains, is considered one of the most beautiful and best-preserved medieval cities on the Adriatic coast. A guided walking tour leads past Venetian palaces, the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon, and through narrow, winding streets where history and Mediterranean life blend in a unique way.
Afterwards, there will be time to enjoy the special flair of the old town with a coffee or a walk along the city wall.
Day 6 : Budva – Stari Bar – Shkodra – Kruja – Tirana
After breakfast, the journey continues to the historic town of Stari Bar in southern Montenegro, whose ruins are steeped in history. Among weathered walls, ancient olive trees, and cobbled paths, life from centuries past becomes tangible. A walk through the remains of this once-important trading town is a journey back in time to medieval Montenegro.
Afterwards, continue across the border into Albania to the city of Shkodra, one of Albania's oldest cities and an important cultural center. The city is picturesquely situated between the Buna and Drin rivers, overlooking Lake Skadar. A visit to Rozafa Fortress, majestically perched atop a hill, offers a breathtaking panorama of the plains and surrounding waters. The legend of the woman walled up within its walls lends the fortress a mysterious atmosphere.
Travel to Kruja, the city of the Albanian national hero Skanderbeg. Perched high above the plains, it offers not only breathtaking views but also a vibrant piece of history. The Kruja fortress was once the center of Albanian resistance against the Ottomans. In the old town, amidst ancient stone houses, small craft shops, and an oriental atmosphere, the city's historical heritage can be experienced in a particularly impressive way.
Arrival in Tirana in the evening and check-in at the hotel.
Day 7 : Tirana – Ohrid
After breakfast, the day begins with a tour of Albania's vibrant capital, Tirana – a city that harmoniously blends contrasts: socialist monumental buildings stand alongside modern glass palaces, historic mosques nestled between colorful facades and shady parks. A comprehensive city tour reveals the diversity of this up-and-coming metropolis.
The route follows the historic Via Egnatia, an ancient Roman road, to Ohrid in North Macedonia. The city lies nestled on the shores of the lake of the same name, considered one of the oldest and deepest inland bodies of water in the world. Both the city's historical fabric and the lake itself are protected as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
A special experience awaits on a 20-minute boat trip on the crystal-clear water, offering a new perspective on the lakeside promenades. Afterwards, you'll explore Ohrid – one of the oldest settlements in Europe and the cultural center of North Macedonia. A stroll through the winding streets of the old town reveals magnificent views across the vast expanse of Lake Ohrid.
Check-in at the hotel in the evening.
Day 8 : Ohrid – Tetovo – Skopje
1. In the morning, the route leads through Mavrovo National Park. The expansive mountain landscape with its dense forests and lakes is considered one of the most important nature reserves in the region and is a paradise for nature lovers.
A subsequent stay in Tetovo is dedicated to visiting the Painted Mosque. This building is one of the most unusual religious structures in the Balkans. Both the exterior and interior are almost entirely covered with colorful arabesques, floral motifs, and ornaments. This detailed decoration makes the mosque an outstanding example of Ottoman artistry.
Upon arrival in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, a comprehensive tour of this city of contrasts between tradition and modernity awaits. In the Old Town, you will explore the Kale Fortress, the sprawling bazaar with its narrow streets and traditional craft shops, as well as numerous mosques and caravanserais. In the New Town, the impressive Alexander Fountain in the central square and the Mother Teresa House, commemorating the city's most famous daughter, are sure to impress.
In the evening, a shared Macedonian dinner with traditional music – a delightful end to the day.
Day 9 : Skopje – Nis – Belgrade
The day begins with a farewell to North Macedonia and crossing the border back into Serbia. The first stop is the city of Niš, one of the oldest cities in the Balkans and a historical link between East and West. As the birthplace of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, the city boasts a history spanning millennia. The visit offers ample time to explore the city and its architectural contrasts at your own pace.
The journey then continues to the Serbian capital, Belgrade.
